We are an evangelical Baptist Church , and believe that God’s love, expressed in Jesus, is available to everyone. We are a mixture of ages, races and backgrounds and all are welcome to join us.
We are a member church of the Baptist Union of Great Britain
Our Minister is Rev. Lawrence Fellick - click here to find out more about him.
We are located close to Southampton Uni. and are always pleased to offer a home from home to students, especially those from overseas.
Our activities are based around our core values. We aim to follow Jesus in being:
A Prophetic Community:
Committed to exposing evil, injustice, and hypocrisy.
Willing to challenge worldly concepts of power, wealth, status, and security.
An Inclusive Community:
Loving and welcoming all people regardless of their gender, language, race, class, age and culture.
Honouring those who are rejected, deprived, and powerless.
A Sacrificial Community:
Accepting vulnerability and the necessity of sacrifice.
Reflecting the generous life-giving nature of God.
A Missionary Community:
Working to bring God’s forgiving and healing love to all.
Helping people to experience the love of God for themselves.
A Worshipping Community:
Engaging in worship and prayer which inspire and undergird all we do and are.
Following Christ in the whole of daily life.
Our text for 2010 is taken from Psalm 121:
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
As a church, we support the work of “SCRATCH” - “Southampton City and Region Action to combat hardship”. Gifts of tinned and packet food are welcomed on Communion Sundays. These are passed on to the Basics Bank for distribution to those in need.
We are joined in a formal covenant with a number of local churches in the Bassett and Swaythling area to witness and meet together. We are also members of the Southampton Christian Network and link up with the other Baptist churches in Southampton.
We support the work of the Baptist Missionary Society, our local Street Pastors and Hope Now and have Link missionaries in Moldova with Operation Mobilisation. We also engage with the work of Friends International which seeks to offer a welcome and support to overseas students.
We enjoy each other's company and particularly enjoy sharing meals together. We aim to ensure that all the food and drink served in our church is fairly traded.
