Information For Students
Coming to Southampton is a great opportunity to explore different churches and find the place God wants you to serve or the place you feel comfortable and supported while you explore your faith. This may well involve time spent in more than one place and there are advantages and disadvantages to both big and small churches. We would love you to visit us but if our church is not for you, that’s OK and we might be able to suggest other places to try.
Our church is situated a short walk away from City Gateway and Wessex Lane halls of residence.
Many of our members are former students so know the challenges of university life and can support you during your time in Southampton.
Our members come from a variety of backgrounds, not just Baptist churches, and as such there are different views and theologies represented in our congregation. The UK Baptist declaration of principle unites us in our differences.
There are many opportunities to get involved, but no pressure to do so. You would be very welcome to join one of our small groups where we pray, read the bible and ask questions to further our understanding of the passage, the week’s sermon and each other. You don’t have to be a Christian to join one, so if you or one of your friends is exploring what it means to follow Jesus you would be very welcome.
As a Baptist Church, the church meeting is where we gather together to discern what we should be doing as a church. Our meeting is open to all who regularly attend the church, although only formal members are allowed to vote. If you are looking to become more fully involved, we would love to hear your voice.
